Training is provided via our own schools Get Bike Training and Girls Angels. From your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course to moped test, A1 light motorcycle test, A2 standard motorcycle test, Direct Access Scheme (DAS) or Accelerated Access bike tests, we can train you. We can also help if you are returning to motorcycling with a Back to Biking course, born again bikers can often be surprised by the performance of the latest motorbikes! As everyone has to take the motorcycle theory test (with few exemptions see the FAQ) we can also help with books, CD-roms and friendly advice.

To begin motorcycling in London:

How to get a motorcycle license, motorbike license, scooter licence, scooter moped licence, manual scooter moped licence: Take a DAS motorcycle test, motorbike test, bike test, scooter moped test or CBT training.

NOTE: Before commencing formal training, such as Compulsory Basic Training - CBT training, Theory Test, motorcycle courses, motorcycle training or applying for a DAS motorcycle Test, you must hold a current and valid Provisional Motorcycle License / motorbike licence. An application for a driving licence form D1 can be obtained from a main Post Office. The correct spelling is motorcycle licence, not motorcycle license.

There are three steps to follow:

1 Compulsory Basic Training - CBT training only
2 Theory Test.
3 Practical Test - for:
a) A1 - Moped Test (not exceeding 50cc, and not capable of travelling faster than 50KPH)
b) A2 - Scooter test, motorbike test or Motorcycle Test. (125cc must be rated to travel faster than 100KPH. This grade of pass will have a two year restriction to ride bikes not exceeding 33BHP)
- c) DAS - Direct Access Scheme. Motorcycle Test Motorbike Test - for people over 21 years old wishing to avoid the two year restriction, in order to ride any size of motorcycle or motorbike straight away on a full unrestricted motorcycle licence / motorcycle license, motorbike licence / motorbike license.

For Compulsory Basic Training - for scooters mopeds - commonly referred to as CBT test London, CBT test, CBT training London, CBT scooter moped training, CBT for scooters mopeds training, motorcycle courses, scooter training, motorcycle training, motorbike training / motor bike training, motor cycle training, motorcycle training - to ride on a car licence or CBT test certificate, or to get beyond provisional motorcycle licence / motorcycle license / motorbike licence / motorbike license, take a motorcycle rider training course for Direct Access Scheme DAS Test - and obtain a full scooter license / scooter licence, motorcycle licence / motorcycle license / motorbike licence / motorbike license, it has to be West London based Get Bike Rider Training for women, based at the site of Get Bikes scooters London, motorcycles London and motorcycle training. Both are Driving Standard Agency (DSA) and BSM approved.

On what sort of bike should you take your CBT training course? Remember that taking a full scooter test, test is where the restriction comes. If you take it on a 50cc scooter moped, you will get a moped licence / moped license or category P as a full entitlement on your licence. There isn't really any such thing as a scooter licence as a scooter is simply an automatic motorcycle so you can take the scooter test on an automatic scooter, but you will be restricted to an automatic scooter / motorcycle when you pass your scooter test.

On a scooter moped, London streets are much easier to navigate, however out of town it may prove more restrictive. And on a moped scooter London can be pretty scary if you can only do 31 mph!

We always advise students to get a full motorcycle licence / motorcycle license / motorbike licence / motorbike license, an A2 standard or a DAS Direct Access Scheme motorcycle test / motorbike test, motor bike test on a manual machine then you have the option.

In London, larger motorcycles / motorbikes may be more difficult than on a scooter moped, but if you are travelling any distance for leisure, it's worth the extra effort to learn to ride a motorcycle in London or motorbike. The A1 test is a full motorcycle license, but it is restricted to scooters mopeds, motorcycles / motorbikes that will only ever be a learner legal specification machines. This will prove restrictive - unless, you only ever want to ride in a city such as London.

If you want to; learn to ride a moped scooter, learn to ride a motorcycle in London, learn to ride a motorbike or learn to ride a bike and you're going to do CBT training course, London has many motorcycle rider training schools but few come near the Standard and facilities of Get Bike scooter London, motorcycle London and motorcycle learning.
